We feature a story on the Johnny Appleseed Woodcarvers Saturday. This exquisite piece by Dick Strine of Ashland is of an African Lion relaxing on his perch and is hand-carved from a single block of wood. The lion is about eight inches long. Please stop by for a visit.

Hi Terry,
Thank you for putting this wonderful article on your blog. This is a great bunch of guys who enjoy sharing their knowledge almost as much as they do carving itself. I will also take a second to mention that this is not a guys only organization. Many ladies are also wonderful carvers.
I especially want to thank you for mentioning my web-site and linking to it. I can use all the advertising assistance that I can get.
Keep up the good work!!
Warm Regards,
WALT RUESS

Hi Walt:

Yes, by not specifically metnioning the ladies I implied their absence from this activity. That was an oversight on my part for which I apologize.
